7. Queen Victoria (1819-1901)

Queen Victoria (1819-1901) was the Queen of the United Kingdom, ruling over a vast British Empire that stretched across six continents for 63 years, the second longest reign in its country's history (the longest belonging to the current Queen Elizabeth II). Her rule was so definitive that the period has come to be known as the “Victorian Era". Under her rule, slavery was abolished throughout all British colonies and voting rights granted to most British men. She also made reforms in labor conditions and presided over significant cultural, political, and military changes in her Empire.

La reine Victoria (1819-1901) était la reine du Royaume-Uni, gouvernant un vaste empire britannique qui s'étendait sur six continents pendant 63 ans, le deuxième règne le plus long de l'histoire de son pays (le plus long appartenant à l'actuelle reine Elizabeth II). Son règne était si définitif que l’époque fut connue sous le nom d ’« ère victorienne ». Sous son règne, l’esclavage fut aboli dans toutes les colonies britanniques et le droit de vote accordé à la plupart des hommes britanniques. Elle procéda également à des réformes des conditions de travail et présida changements culturels, politiques et militaires importants dans son empire.
